Inspired by a recent interview I did with Raise The Bar founder, Bronte Hogarth this week, I decided to try my hand at some simple DIY facial scrubs.

During the colder months when the humanity drops, your skin tends to be much drier and dehydrated. Freezing temperatures outside and dry, stale air from indoor heating can both wreck havoc with your complexion.

Thankfully, a good natural facial scrub is all you need to reveal glowing skin underneath.

Whether your dermis is dry, sensitive or oily, here are three simple zero waste facial scrubs you can whip up in the kitchen that will give you smoother skin.

Shea Butter and Jojoba Facial Scrub (for dry skin)

Ingredients

  • 4 tsps jojoba oil
    3 tsps argan oil

  • 4 tsps shea butter

  • 4-6 drops tea tree essential oil

  • 6-7 tsps sugar

Method

Combine argan and jojoba oils and shea butter in a heatproof glass bowl over a double boiler. Heat on low heat until just melted.

Remove from heat and add tea tree essential oil.

Wait until the mixture cools down to room temperature then add sugar. Stir well, ensuring there are no clumps.

Store in a small airtight glass jar.
